To make audiology services more accessible to low-resourced rural communities in Kaduna state, Earcare Foundation partnered with the Ronchess and Kashim Ibrahim Fellowship to create an Outreach Programme with the Local ENT department (National Ear Care Centre) with the aim of reducing the negative impact of hearing impairment on health, lifestyle, and communicative abilities of individuals with hearing loss and their families. The programme was focused on diagnosis and management of ear and hearing problems across the age spectrum. Earmould impressions were taking for the creating of earmoulds for their hearing aids, distributing of hearing aids and batteries. Simultaneously, local nurses were trained to troubleshooting and or replacing hearing aids as well as identifying ear and hearing disorders.
